This Mansfield Brewery pub has an interior with every bit as much charm and atmosphere as you might hope from its exterior. As with so many Hull pubs, the Whittington and Cat is clearly a relic of an older street pattern. It now backs more or less directly onto the crinkly sheds of the Kingston Retail Park. Yet once inside, the fittings and decor take you back to another age.

The coffee machine, sandwiches and pool table show that time has not entirely stood still: yet the old wood and blue leather in the snug give the place a very friendly feel. Even when crowded, the character of this pub shines through. And even better, in our opinion, it serves the best pint of Riding in the city...
