A nice three roomed corner pub that looks as if it might once have
been a shop. Don't let the slightly odd exterior appearance put you off;
there's a friendly welcome inside, and if the weather's good the St Johns has the unusual
distinction of having a beer garden that really is a garden.
Last time we visited, the blackboard outside the St Johns was
using its entry in Hullpub to promote the pub. This is the first time we've seen this sort of link
back to the site: it just goes to show how the Internet gets everywhere these days...
As further signs of the quality of the welcome available at the St
Johns, it is worth noting first that they won Mansfield Brewery's "Host of the Year"
competition for 1999; and second that they have just started to feature in the Users Choice Top 10
list for Hullpub. Congratulations are in order on both counts.

"The St Johns is the best REAL pub in Hull and it's a shame a lot of people aren't aware of
that."
