We have fairly recently started asking visitors to this site to
rate Hull's pubs using a section of the feedback form. The full range is
shown below.
Pub get ratings after we have received three assessments from
different people. The rating given is based on the average of all the assessments we've been sent
for a particular pub. Pubs not displaying a rating can include those that have yet to get three
users' assessments as well as ordinary locals serving local needs.
We did think about including a "Missable" rating: pubs
judged by users as worth avoiding whether you're passing or not. 
In the end we felt that pubs are such a matter of individual
taste we shouldn't. The feedback form includes a "Missable"
rating: and if any pub does get a lot of them, we might reconsider.
And, finally... This
sign isn't meant to express anyone's opinion of the pub on whose page it appears. Instead, it marks
out pubs that seem, sadly, to have stopped trading.
