different world; and it shows.
Here as elsewhere in Hull, the pubs are often all that is left of
a previous pattern of settlement. This has resulted in some real oddities. Take a look at the
Blacksmiths Arms. A really fine building now almost surrounded by a monstrous lime green crinkly
shed...
You sometimes wonder where the customers come from. In some cases
they still live locally. Elsewhere, people come back from the outer estates to relive the
communities that used to exist in the area.
