One of the most surprising pubs we know. The first trick is
finding it at all. That's not difficult if you know what you're looking for: but it is quite
possible to walk straight past without noticing it's there.
The surprise is not its presence, but rather what you find inside.
The small unassuming frontage opens out, Tardis-like, into a vast interior that just keeps on
going.
This Camerons pub opened in February 1997, and the interior is
attractive and comfortable. A framed article by the bar shows that the Hull Daily Mail gave the
Hallgate Tavern 9 out of 10 for its food. Further evidence of its quality - this time of the beer -
comes from its entry in CAMRA's 1999 Good beer Guide.
