A large Bass pub housed in a really splendid building that almost
holds its own with the Guildhall opposite in one direction, and the new law courts in another. The
building dates back to 1904.
More importantly, the City Hotel is a little remote from its
nearest neighbours, and can as a result seem a very welcome oasis...
