We described the The Lockwood (see photo, right) as a large but
fairly basic town pub with an air of faded grandeur that is helped along by its highly ornate
ceilings and rather nice bar.
After a period during which its future looked very doubtful, the
Lockwood was classified as a Grade II Listed Building; and sold.
The May/July 1998 edition of "Pub Mirror" reported that
the Lockwood had re-opened as the Bull and Bush. Initial reports, they said, suggested loud music
(and decor) and no real beer. We will let you know our own views when we've been: so far our visits
have never coincided with the opening hours of the Old Bull 'n' Bush, as it correctly seems to be
called.

feeling. people from all walks of life party together and everyone is made to feel welcome. This
pub is an absolute must for everyone who enjoys a party atmosphere, if only to see the transvestite
DJs and to witness the spectacular show put on at the end of the night by the very friendly and
talented bar staff."
