The Bass House is a traditional city centre pub. Not as large as it first appears because of the mirrors lining the back wall, this is a pub for those who like their music loud and their furnishings careworn and just that little bit grimy. Our visit did clear up one mystery: now we know what became of the regulars at the Hull Cheese after they moved it upmarket and turned it into the Silvester Arms.
